Another 7-Seater from Maruti Ready to launch

Maruti Suzuki is set to expand its SUV lineup with the introduction of a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara, internally codenamed Y17. This new model aims to cater to families seeking a spacious and feature-rich vehicle in the mid-size SUV segment.

Design and Exterior

The 7-seater Grand Vitara is expected to feature significant design changes compared to its 5-seater counterpart. Spy shots reveal a longer rear overhang to accommodate the third row of seats, along with a redesigned front fascia inspired by the upcoming e-Vitara electric SUV. Notable exterior elements include:​

  • New LED headlamps and daytime running lights

  • Revised front and rear bumpers

  • Connected LED tail lamps

  • Fresh alloy wheel designs​

These updates aim to provide the 7-seater Grand Vitara with a distinct identity while maintaining the brand's design language.​

Interior and Features

Inside, the 7-seater Grand Vitara is anticipated to offer both 6-seat (with captain seats) and 7-seat configurations to cater to varying customer preferences. The cabin is expected to be equipped with:​

  • A larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Revised instrument cluster

  • Panoramic sunroof (likely on higher trims)

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Connected car technology with remote vehicle monitoring

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety​

These features aim to enhance comfort, convenience, and safety for all occupants.​

Powertrain and Performance

The 7-seater Grand Vitara is expected to retain the powertrain options from the standard model:1.5L K15C mild-hybrid petrol engine: Produces 103.06 PS and 136.8 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.​

  • 1.5L 3-cylinder strong-hybrid petrol engine: Delivers 115.56 PS and 141 Nm of torque, mated to an e-CVT gearbox.​

These engine options aim to provide a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, catering to diverse driving needs.​

Expected Launch and Pricing

The 7-seater Grand Vitara is slated for launch around Diwali 2025, with production expected to commence at Maruti Suzuki's new facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana. Pricing is anticipated to start at approximately ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively against rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus.​
